Pesticide Label Databases
Numerous pesticide products are available for management of plant diseases, insects, and weeds in various settings, including agricultural production sites. However, not all pesticide products are registered for use in every state. Before purchasing and applying a product, verify that the product in question is registered for use in your state and that the product is labeled for its intended use. The label is the law. Read and follow all label directions. The label contains the directions necessary for the legal application and use of that product, including required personal protective equipment (PPE). Please be advised that the Worker Protection Standard for Agricultural Pesticides has been revised (see Additional Resources below), and any changes to required PPE may be found in the Agricultural Use Statement on the product labels. Be sure to look for this information in the process of product/label review.
A number of online databases provide electronic copies of product labels (Table 1); these databases often also provide information on the state registration of individual products. Electronic copies of labels may also be obtained from manufacturer or distributor websites. Electronic labels should be used as a guideline when selecting products for purchase since the version available on various websites may not be the most up-to-date version and may not match the actual label attached to a product. Website users should always read and follow the label attached to the product.
