Which variety of seed is used for green onions?
Although there are several varieties of onion developed only for green onions, many Mississippi growers simply use whatever is handy at the local seed store. Bunching onions, such as Evergreen, Ishikura, and Welsh onions, produce a somewhat smoother green onion, but normal bulb onion varieties will produce acceptable quality if grown at a 1 inch by 1 inch spacing.
