Norbert Coleman Memorial 4-H BBQ Fundraiser
It is exciting to share the information for our first annual Norbert Coleman Memorial 4-H BBQ Fundraiser. A scholarship was established this year to honor the memory of Mr. Norbert Cole- man who passed away in 2017. Mr. Norbert served on the Alcorn County 4-H Advisory Council and actively supported the 4-H livestock program. He loved everything about 4-H and we loved him! A BBQ fundraiser will be held each year to support the scholarship fund.
The fundraiser will consist of selling tickets for Boston Butt roasts and/or BBQ plate lunches. All orders are presale. 4-H members are encouraged to come by the office for tickets. The 4-H member who sells the most tickets will earn a monetary award of $50. The tickets are $35.00 for a roast and $10.00 for a plate lunch. The pickup date is November 6, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Alcorn MSU Extension parking lot. The deadline for ticket sales is Friday, October 30. Roasts will be prepared by the Rollin’ Rumps BBQ Team.
As we near the end of 2020 and look to a brighter 2021 I encour- age you to begin planning what you want to accomplish next year in 4-H. The process in the way we conduct some activities may continue to be different from what we once knew, but we will adapt. Please review the newsletter carefully and get involved in the activities that are happening! Although we can- not open the Extension office to full capacity, we can slowly return to our 4-H activities following social distancing guidelines. Many of you will be hearing from your 4-H club leaders soon about meetings and opportunities.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions, concerns or suggestions!
Happy Fall Y’all!
