Heathy Living ECHO for Primary Care Providers-5 Part Series

Wednesday, October 20, 2021 - 12:00pm - Wednesday, November 17, 2021 - 1:30pm

Project ECHO was launched in 2003 by Dr. Sanjeev Arora at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center. It utilizes a ‘hub-and-spokes model’ to disseminate knowledge from a team of specialists (i.e., the hub) to other medical providers in the state (the spokes). It engages medical providers in modules and open discussion via videoconferencing. The sessions consist of real-life application and include an assessment and opportunity for feedback.

After partnering with the University of Mississippi Medical Center, AIM for CHangE is implementing a Project ECHO initiative to focus on providing constructive conversations over the topics of obesity, nutrition, and rural health to providers with unique opportunities and barriers compared to larger urban practices. AIMCHE and UMMC will conduct a series of webinars on Wednesdays for five consecutive weeks. The planned sessions are as followed:

10/20 - Session 1: Introduction to stages of change, motivational interviewing & goal-setting, and MSU Extension Service Background & Scope
10/27 - Session 2: Nutrition Assessment and Prescription & Physical Activity Assessment and Prescription
11/3 - Session 3: Stress/Mental Health Assessment and Prescription & Sleep Health Assessment & Prescription
11/10 - Session 4: Diabetes and Lifestyle Medicine & Strategies for Relapse
11/17 - Session 5: Hypertension and Lifestyle Medicine & Review
