The percent active ingredient should be located on the label of the material to be used. Most materials used in treating fish diseases or aquatic weeds are 100% active or are considered to be 100% active for treatment purposes. Read the label and write down the percent active ingredient for the material to be used.
Using the measurements and figures you have recorded, you can now use the equation below to calculate the amount of material you will need to treat the desired volume of water.
Amount of material needed = Volume x Conversion factor x ppm desired x (100 / percent active ingredient)
