The Life and Times of Bobwhite Quail in Mississippi

The Life and Times of Bobwhite Quail in Mississippi is now available to 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. Our newest module includes several components designed to meet Mississippi state curriculum requirements as well as educate students on the importance of Northern Bobwhite, their historical importance, conservation and habitat management.

A 6 ft X 12 ft display features activity centers which graphically depict Northern Bobwhite, their habitat requirements and management techniques.

A comprehensive guide is provided to each 3-4th grade teacher at schools where Life and Times of Bobwhite Quail in Mississippi is used. This bound guide includes lesson plans, a list of Mississippi state curriculum requirements met, answer keys, and handouts for teachers to provide to students. Before inclusion in the Life and Times of Bobwhite Quail in Mississippi program, teachers are required to administer Pre-exposure tests. After program completion students are given a Post-exposure test, allowing us to measure the impact of the module on students’ knowledge of Bobwhite Quail.

Partially funded by the Weyerhaeuser Corporation and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Life and Times of Bobwhite Quail in Mississippi school enrichment module is one of three school enrichment modules available from the Mississippi State University Extension Service here in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
