Accessible Gardens at Experiment Station
CRYSTAL
SPRINGS -- In 2006, the staff at the Crystal Springs Branch Experiment
Station, led by Dr. Rick Snyder, secured a mini-grant from the Mississippi
AgrAbility Project to construct accessible gardening structures.
The structures included various levels of raised beds and a step-ladder garden. They can be managed from a wheelchair and also eliminate the need to bend or stoop for prolonged periods of time.
Dr. Wayne Porter, Area Horticulture Agent, provided the public with educational information on ergonomic tools and methods to ease the physical toil of gardening.
