Welcome

AgrAbility is an educational program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture that is designed to help farmers with disabilities overcome their limitations through equipment modifications, assistive technology and task restructuring. The USDA grant is awarded to land-grant University Extension Services who then partner with non-profit disability organizations.

The services offered to agricultural workers with disabilities include technical assistance to modify equipment, learn farming alternatives, and make facilities more accessible; networking with other famers or ranchers with disabilities, as well as Mississippi and National AgrAbility project resources; and vocational counseling for farmers and ranchers with disabilities and their families.

The disabilities include amputations, arthritis, back injuries, chronic pain, head injuries, hearing impairments, heart conditions, respiratory diseases, spinal cord injuries and visual impairments.

The project also provides educational activities such as training for those who work with farmers or ranchers with disabilities and outreach programs on disability awareness for school-age children.
