TROPICAL CORN AND FORAGE SORGHUM
Seven lines of tropical corn, two lines of temperate corn and three forage sorghum hybrids were evaluated at three locations for forage and grain yield. At Mississippi State, the highest corn forage and grain yield was produced by Pioneer 3098. Deltapine 102F forage sorghum produced the highest yield of forage and grain (Table 23). At Mississippi State and at Newton, a sample of forage from the corn and forage sorghum was ensiled in small plastic bags and analyzed for forage quality after the ensiling process was complete by the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences. These results are presented in Table 24 and 27. At Newton, the highest yield of corn forage was produced by Pioneer X304C and the highest grain yield produced by Pioneer 3085 (Table 25). Deltapine 102F produced the highest yield of sorghum forage (Table 26). At Poplarville, the highest yield of corn forage was produced by DeKalb XL 660 and highest yield of grain was produced by Deltapine G 4868 (Table 28). Deltapine 102F produced the highest yield of forage (Table 30). Samples of forage from the corn trials were analyzed for quality by the Forage Quality Lab at the Southeast Research Station in Franklinton, Louisiana (Table 29).
