MSU Extension Service adds consumer expert

MISSISSIPPI STATE – The Mississippi State University Extension Service has hired a new associate in response to Mississippians’ growing interest in returning to traditional methods of food preparation and preservation, sewing and home arts.
Sylvia Clark serves as an Extension associate for family and consumer sciences. Her responsibilities include working with the Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers program and the Master Clothing Volunteers program. She will also secure grant funding and assist the family and consumer sciences departments as needed, such as child and family development, health and family resource management.
“Sylvia brings with her a wealth of experience in coordinating and organizing programs and events,” said Paula Threadgill, state program leader for Extension Family and Consumer Sciences. “Sylvia also works with the Women for Agriculture program that partners with MSU’s Extension Service.”
Clark said she is excited about the opportunity to share the expertise of Mississippi’s vast network of experienced producers and Extension specialists.
“My life has been spent in farming, and I’m a consumer too, so I think I can bring a unique perspective to promoting family and consumer sciences,” Clark said.
Clark received her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Information Science and her master's degree in Agricultural and Extension Education, both from MSU. Clark can be reached at (662) 325-1696 or email@example.com.
