Beef Agribition to offer purchasing opportunities

MISSISSIPPI STATE – Cattle producers will gather this month in Verona to network and position themselves for possible upswings in the demand for beef.

The 12th Mississippi Beef Agribition, or MBA, will be held on March 27 and 28 at the Lee County Agri-Center. The event will provide a venue for cattle buyers and sellers to develop new business relationships and learn more about improving their herds.

The event begins on March 27 with a beef dinner in the main arena. The event’s Spotlight heifer and bull sale will start immediately following the meal. Dusty Taylor with Taylor Made Enterprises will auction nine fancy show prospect heifers and one show prospect bull.

Also taking place Friday evening is a presentation by Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine on developing herd health programs. Commercial heifers and registered bulls and females will be for sale beginning at noon on March 28.

The other popular attractions at this event include the livestock products trade show, a producer seminar and the youth beef skillathon.

“Events like this generate a lot of optimism among cattle producers, buyers and sellers,” said Bill Herndon, director of MSU’s North Mississippi Research and Extension Center. “It is a good opportunity for people to find highly productive cattle to introduce into their herds.”
