Agriculture conference targets financial issues

MISSISSIPPI STATE -- A Jan. 11 conference will help farmers, landowners, accountants and other consultants learn about current policy issues that can impact revenue and wealth management for today’s farmers and future generations.
The Richard C. Adkerson School of Accountancy at Mississippi State University will present an Agriculture Wealth Management, Accounting and Taxation Conference in the Capps Center at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville.
The luncheon speaker will be Hunter Moorhead, special assistant to the U.S. president for National Economic Council’s Agriculture, Trade and Food Assistance, who will give an update on the farm bill and other legislation that may affect agriculture.
Other notable speakers will address a variety of topics, including current crop issues, how to better market crops, the effect of ethanol and bioenergy on agriculture, current income tax and estate tax planning issues, issues facing the Delta and buying, selling and financing farmland.
Topics presented at the conference are appropriate for farmers and landowners, certified public accountants, attorneys, agricultural consultants and others who work in the industry. The program, which begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 5 p.m., is designed to provide eight hours of continuing education based on a 50-minute credit hour.
The registration fee of $150 in advance and $175 at the door includes breakfast, lunch, a snack break and conference materials. Seating is limited.
