Teleconference offered on ways to save energy

MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Mississippi manufactures are encouraged to take part in an upcoming nationwide teleconference addressing the problem of high energy costs threatening profits in many industries.

The March 9 satellite teleconference “Industrial Efficiency Initiative: Save Energy, Maximize Profits” is being offered at five sites spanning the state. It is produced by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Northwest Food Processors Association and the Food-processing Industry Resource Efficiency Team, and is offered through the Mississippi State University Extension Service.

“The program has application to all manufacturing sectors, including food processing,” said Anna Hood, Extension professor who is coordinating the teleconference locally. “Anyone responsible for managing or controlling energy costs and who is interested in improving productivity and profitability is encouraged to attend.”

The teleconference will focus on sound, proven management strategies and innovative technologies and techniques used to reduce energy costs, increase productivity and maximize profits. A question and answer session will give participants the opportunity to have their questions answered on air.

The teleconference will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

* MSU - Bost Extension Center
* Stoneville - Delta Research and Extension Center
* Gulfport - Harrison County Extension Office
* Jackson - Hinds County Extension Office
* Tupelo - Lee County Extension Office

There is a $60 registration fee. Sign up for the conference online at http:\\www.nwfpa.org or call Hood at (662) 325-3200 for more information.
