Poultry scientist honored by FFA

MISSISSIPPI STATE -- The national FFA organization is recognizing Tim Chamblee, associate professor of poultry science at Mississippi State University, for advancing agricultural education and for his personal commitment to FFA.

The Mississippi FFA Association nominated Chamblee to receive the honorary American FFA degree. Members of the National FFA Board of Directors approved the nomination and will bestow the honor at the upcoming national convention in Louisville, Ky. The honorary degree recognizes individuals who have gone beyond valuable daily contributions to make an extraordinary long-term difference in the lives of students. Recipients inspire confidence in a new generation of agriculturists.

Chamblee works extensively with FFA and collegiate poultry judging teams and FFA public speaking competitions. He strives to have a positive relationship with agriscience teachers and students and regularly provides training workshops for teachers. Mississippi's students and teachers have open invitations to practice poultry judging skills with Chamblee and the MSU Poultry Judging Team.

Chamblee earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in poultry science from MSU in 1981 and 1983. He received his doctorate from MSU in 1988. He joined the university's faculty as an assistant professor in 1989.

FFA is a national youth organization that prepares almost half a million student members for leadership careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
