Field Day set for cattle producers

MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Dairy and beef cattle producers can learn the latest recommendations from researchers and Extension specialists during the North Mississippi Beef and Dairy Field Day on Sept. 18 in Marshall County.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the program starting at 9:30 a.m. at Mississippi State University's North Mississippi Branch Experiment Station, located about three miles north of Holly Springs off of Highway 7. Lunch will be provided.

Researchers with the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and MSU Extension Service specialists will be available to provide information and answer questions. The morning program will include presentations on herd health and biosecurity, baleage management and economics, integrated resource management and techniques for improving reproductive efficiency.

The afternoon tours will visit the tunnel ventilation dairy barn and the prototype beef herd. Tour leaders will discuss research and management issues under investigation at the research station.
