Mississippi Forestry Association annual convention. MFA names Harley and Billie Craven of Newton as its “Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year.” Lance McCool of Jayess named “Outstanding Logger of the Year.” Harold Anderson receives the “Meritorious Service to Forestry” award. Peavey Electronics of Meridian donated a custom guitar which the MFA will auction later to benefit the Mississippi Forestry Foundation.

Supported by combination of strong export demand, higher energy costs, concerns about 2008 acreage, and a slowdown in the rate of farmer selling of the new crop. Mississippi State University Extension Agricultural Economist John Anderson advises that this most recent rally presents a good opportunity to think about pricing some of next year's corn crop.
