FEDERAL COURT STAYS NATIONAL BEEF CHECKOFF RULING - Stays June 21st court ruling that the mandatory checkoff was unconstitutional and should stop. The stay will remain in effect while the U.S. Department of Agriculture is appealing the ruling. |

MORE ON THE CHECKOFF - If the South Dakota case reaches the U.S. Supreme Court, it will be one of several times the Supreme Court has ruled on the beef checkoff. As late as last November, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a Kansas cattleman's suit which also challenged the checkoff's constitutionality. |
