MEETING BACKGROUND
Governor Haley Barbour said he wanted to hold the conference because production agriculture directly or indirectly employs 30-percent of Mississippians. Barbour said advancing agriculture and rural towns and communities remains an important focus in Mississippi. The conference was designed for farmers, county supervisors and local officials interested in rural economic development.
Conference topics included investment opportunities in value-added agriculture, technology access in rural areas and wildlife tourism. |
