Ornamental & Tree Diseases

I was disappointed with my spring flowering bulb crop. I bought bulbs which appeared to be okay and planted on time, but my much anticipated beautiful displays of daffodils and tulips fizzled. Any ideas what went wrong?

There are several possibilities, but the most common is bulb rot which results from planting in low, poorly-drained soils (an environment favorable for the microorganisms responsible for bulb rot). Refer to "Tips for a Healthy Spring Crop of Tulips and Daffodils" for guidelines on how to avoid common problems which affect bloom quality.
