Ornamental & Tree Diseases

I'm interested in a make-your-own fungicide called Bordeaux mixture. Since this material is generally accepted as being environmentally friendly, and used by organic gardeners, I'd like to know more. Is Bordeaux mixture effective? What diseases can it be used to control in the home landscape? And how do I go about preparing my own supply?

No problem! This fungicide isn't difficult to prepare if you follow the recipe outlined in a Plant Pathology Infobyte "Make Your Own Bordeaux Fungicide Mixture". The ingredients are readily available, and this fungicide will do a good job of controlling fungal and some bacterial diseases which attack shade trees and shrubbery.

Use it for prevention of oak and maple anthracnose, and even oak leaf blister. It's also effective as a dormant spray for black spot of rose and fire blight of Bradford pear.
