Summer Tips
Garden Tips Newsletter - April 30, 2001

If you are going to plant several Crape Myrtles or Azaleas in your yard this spring, make sure you buy these plants when they are blooming so that you know what color the blooms will be and can group or place your plants accordingly.

Now is a good time to plant Calla lilies, Ginger lillies, Tuberoses, and Cannas.

This is the last month to prune Azaleas and Camellias as new flower buds form in June.

Once your spring bulbs and irises have flowered and have started to set seed, remove the seed pods. Removing the seed pods will give your bulbs more strength. Once your bulbs have finished flowering, do not remove the leaves -- bulbs need their leaves so that they can continue to photosynthesize over the summer and store energy to flower again next spring.
