Indoor Plant Care
Garden Tips Newsletter - February 5, 2001

Indoor plants need adequate light. Adequate light is different for each plant. Research your plant to learn how much light your plant needs. The ideal temperature for indoor plants is 65º F to 75º F during the day and a nighttime temperature that is 10º cooler. Avoid putting plants near drafts, vents, and heat sources. Make sure there is good air circulation around your plants. Proper watering is very important to the survival of your indoor plants. Don't over water your plant (this is the #1 cause of indoor plant death). Touch the soil to gauge whether watering is needed. Stick your finger in up to the first joint -- if the soil is dry at your fingertip -- water is needed.
