Early Learning Guidelines: Social/Emotional Development for Young Children - Caring relationships with responsive adults (e.g., parents, educators, caregivers) help young children develop emotional security and social competence. These attachments serve as a model for later interactions with peers and support the children's participation in learning environments.  This training will focus on the "Social/Emotional Development of Young Children" section of Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines for Three Year Old Children.  Participants will be provided with insight of the skills children need to positively engage in a learning environment. Participants will learn how to encourage the development of both intrapersonal skills (e.g., positive self-concepts and the ability to regulate their emotions and behavior) and interpersonal skills (e.g., ability to develop positive and supportive relationships with others) by emphasizing centers and thematic units.
