Mississippi Chronic Illness CoalitionMississippi Chronic Illness Coalition logo

Chronic illness is claiming too many lives in Mississippi. The goal of the Mississippi Chronic Illness Coalition (MCIC) is to reduce chronic illnesses that seriously affect the state's population. Comprised of over 190 members statewide, representing 120 public and private organizations, MCIC is working diligently toward that goal.

Know Your Numbers Campaign - This past year MCIC unveiled its banner program, Know Your Numbers. The program is designed to encourage individuals to monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index so they can take charge of their health for a better life. MCIC is seeking to blanket Know Your Numbers messages statewide through health care providers and educators. Training and program materials are provided free to interested providers and educators.

Comprehensive Cancer Control logoThe Mississippi Partnership for Comprehensive Cancer Control (MP3C) is a group of individuals representing various community, government and health care agencies from across the state that have a passion for combating cancer. Although many dedicated people and organizations have made substantial contributions toward reducing cancer incidence, morbidity, and mortality, much remains to be done. Recognizing that, MP3C joined together to develop a road map for comprehensive cancer control statewide. The plan will address the continuum of services that range from primary prevention and early detection through effective treatment, quality care, and end-of-life issues, such as pain relief. MP3C welcomes any groups or individuals interested in working for the cause to combat cancer to join the coalition.
