Mississippi SHINE Project (formerly Mississippi Delta State Rural Development Network)
Mississippi is one of eight states that received funding designed to encourage communities to work together to address local health concerns. The Mississippi SHINE Project includes 41 counties, organized into nine local networks. MDSRDN has as its mission to support the development of community-based, multi-county Local Area Health Networks that involve local citizens, health care providers, and other civic & social service agencies with the purpose of expanding access to primary health services throughout the entire service area. Under the oversight of Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center, Inc. based in Coahoma County, Clarksdale, MS, these networks are implementing plans to address community health concerns. MSU Extension Service is pleased to partner with these energetic groups as they seek local participation and input on community health concerns. Interested agencies and individuals living within these counties are encouraged to contact the local lead agency in their area to find out how to get involved. To locate that agency, contact Mitch Morris, MS SHINE Program Director at 662-624-4292.
