Master Health Education Volunteer
"Promoting healthy living through community connections"
How can I participate?
Anyone is welcome to participate. Volunteers are not required to have a health education background. MSU Extension Service will provide the training you need to feel comfortable with the health lessons. All that the volunteer needs is a commitment to volunteering and to promoting healthy living within the community.- There are two separate trainings in the Master Health Education Volunteer program. The first training certifies the volunteer as a Healthy Futures Volunteer. The volunteer agrees to give 20 hours of community service back in exchange for the training received. The 20 hours are to be completed within one year of completing the training and must be an approved activity within the scope of the training.
- A second training can be continued after the first training and service obligation is completed. The secondĀ training involves a one day training session, just as the first training and agreement to give 20 hours of community service back in exchange for the training. Volunteers are then recognized as Master Health Education Volunteers.
- After the initial training and service obligation is complete, Master Health Education Volunteers can continue certification by completing at least 10 hours of additional training annually and providing a minimum of 20 hours of health promotion volunteer service annually.
- Check the training events to find training opportunities scheduled in your area or to learn how to bring training to your community.
