Community Health Coalitions
What is a Mississippi State
University Extension Service Health Coalition?
A group of people
who work and plan together to positively impact specific health issues
and meet the following criteria:
- Long Term Goals:
Group activity of more than one year.
- Diverse membership:
Coalitions are inclusive and members are composed of volunteers who
are providers and consumers of health care at the community level. Membership
is not a sub-group of another common group, (eg., a Sunday school class,
a 4-H club, MHV, company employees) although some members may have other
groups in common. The membership may work with other agencies or partnerships
to reach their goals. Memberships may be incorporated if monies are
involved.
- Active Extension
Participation: Has at least one local MSU-Extension Service member
who actively participates with regular meeting attendance, leadership
functions, and/or assistance with group activities.
