Insects were in my jar products! How can I stop this from happening again?

• Insects may enter jars with ill fitting lids. Make sure that the lids completely fit the jar in an airtight manner.

• Foods that are dried out of doors but not pasteurized are attractive to insects. To prevent insects from infiltrating food fitting this criteria, pasteurize food in an oven set at 160 °F for 30 minutes, or in freezer for 48 hours.
