What varieties are recommended for planting in Mississippi?

In l982, when a state variety testing program was initiated, approximately 30 varieties were entered in the trials. Today, more than 200 varieties are listed.

Mississippi has an extensive statewide variety testing program. Varietal trials are in irrigated and nonirrigated environments and conventional and Roundup Ready.

Results of annual soybean variety trials are available online or from your county Extension office.

Variety selection is extremely important and a decision you do not need to take lightly. Look at individual years and long-term averages, where available, to help in your selection process. Do not plant a large acreage in any one variety. Do not plant a large acreage of a variety that is not a proven performer or does not have a history as a proven performer. Spread your risks.
