Precision Agriculture Workshop

Forrest County Extension Conference Center

Road, Hattiesburg, MS 39401
Precision agriculture is like an app for a farm. Apps, short for applications, take existing technology like a computer, mobile device, or phone and give it more capabilities. You can get directions, find restaurants, or share the details of your life with your friends. Precision agriculture takes your existing farm, and sometimes your existing equipment, and gives it more capabilities. Everything from monitoring crop yield and measuring fertility with soil samples to applying inputs at the right place, time, and rate, will improve farm operations. The difference is that these capabilities can lower input costs, make yields more consistent, and even improve quality of life.
This precision agriculture workshop will take a brief look at some current technologies and practices to improve farm management and operations. Topics will also include decision making and effectively using information that is collected. The presenters, from universities throughout the Midsouth, will present information useful to experienced precision agriculture practitioners and new adopters alike. Whether you are producer, agri-business, or extension, please join us for this informative workshop. Lunch will be provided. There are no registration fees, but we ask that you register on the website or with you local/regional extension representative.
