Corn can be utilized to produce ethanol - a high performance, environmentally-friendly fuel blending component which is marketed as reformulated gasoline. Corn is an abundant renewable resource produced in the United States that can reduce our dependence upon petroleum and foreign markets. Reformulated gasoline blended with ethanol is more affordable, and reduces air pollution and groundwater contamination compared to petroleum-based gasoline.
