Graphic: Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center Coastal Plain Experiment Station

SignThe Coastal Plain Branch Experiment Station was established in 1946. It consists of 1,175 acres located east of Newton in Newton County, a matrix of agricultural, pasture, and forest lands.

Research at this location focuses on natural resource enterprises/wildlife, agro forestry, and natural resource conservation.

The location boasts a newly developed nature trail and boardwalk, forestry research and demonstration area, backyard habitat, and wildlife food plots.

Research at this location also includes studies looking at the agriculture/wildlife interface and maintains numerous acres of pasture and a small beef herd.
