Mississippi Child Care
Resource and Referral Network

The Mississippi Child Care Resource and Referral Network (offered through the Mississippi State University Extension Service) supports early care and education professionals, parents, children, and community members seeking information about quality child care. Our Resource & Referral sites, most of which are located on community college campuses, serve all eighty-two counties in Mississippi.

By improving the quality of care for Mississippi’s youngest and most vulnerable population, we will increase school readiness and thereby contribute to a more educated society and future workforce.

We offer:

The MSCCR&R Network provides a systematic approach to the training and career building of early care and education providers emphasizing the Early Learning Guidelines for Three and Four Year Old Children through training workshops. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available on request.

We also offer distance-learning technology and observation opportunities for early care and education providers in order for them to see appropriate instructional practice in action.  Each workshop participant continuously receives further information, follow-up training, and on-site, individually designed technical assistance.

  • Resource Centers

Located on supporting community college campuses, our Resource Centers provide parents, early care and education providers, and community members the opportunity to use children's literature, puppets, art boxes, educational media, curriculum materials, and other learning resources. • The Referral Process

The MSCCR&R Network maintains a database of information about all licensed childcare centers to help families locate childcare providers in their area based on each family’s needs and interests. To request a referral for available local child care, please contact your local Resource & Referral site, email us at msccrr@ext.msstate.edu, or call us at 1-866-706-8827.

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential Online

People seeking professional development can obtain a variety of online childcare professional training courses.

  • Workforce Development

Resource Centers draw diverse people to community college campuses, generating familiarity with and interest in educational opportunities that will further boost workforce development.  The R&R Network provides opportunities for community college coursework toward a Child Development Technology degree (AA) and/or the CDA credential.
