Nurturing Parenting Program

As a part of Mississippi State University Extension Service’s Project Navigator, the Nurturing Parenting Program is being offered for parents and families of children ages birth to five years old. With this program, you will receive visits, either in your home or a convenient public location, from a trained and experienced child development mentor who will bring free lessons and materials to you for use with your child/children!

The Nurturing Parenting Program is a 16-week program that will provide you with skills and tools to help you become the best parent you can be! The program is designed to:

  • Foster positive parenting skills
  • Build self-awareness and positive self-esteem
  • Enhance family communication and awareness of needs
  • Foster nurturing behavior and routines
  • Promote healthy physical and emotional development
  • Teach developmental expectations
  • Handle feelings, especially stress and anger
  • Teach effective discipline techniques
