Entry Deadlines

Junior Horse Judging Competition - The junior contest will be held at the District Horse Shows. Date and time will be announced by the District Show. The top three junior teams and the top three individuals (even if the individual is not a member of one of the top three teams) from each district contest will be eligible to compete at the State 4-H Horse Championships in the junior division.

Senior Horse Judging Competition - The senior contest will be held during the State 4-H HorseChampionships (See Mississippi 4-H Horse Show Rules & Regulations, Publication 821, for date and time).

The contest consists of the following:

  • Judging three to five halter classes and giving reasons on two to three of the classes.

  • Judging three to five performance classes and giving reasons on two to three of the classes. These performance classes will be selected from: Western Pleasure, Reining, Western Riding, Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation, and Hunter Hack

  • Juniors who compete in the State Horse Judging Contest may be required to judge all of the above mentioned classes and give reasons accordingly.
