4-H Youth Weed Contest

Each year at Club Congress on the Mississippi State University campus,
4-H'ers can participate in the weed science contest. This is an individual contest that consists of two parts: a written quiz and identification of 20 weeds.

Weeds used for the identification portion of the contest are plants pictured in the publication, Weeds of the Southern United States, which is available in each county extension office. Mounted plants, live specimens or slides may be used in the contest.

The written quiz consists of questions taken from Weed Science for 4-H'ers, Publication 553. A printed copy is available from your local county extension office.
