Bug Camp 2006

Home

Buggies includes campers and staff. Obviously without the buggies, camp would not be much fun. The staff puts a tremendous amount of work into making the camp educational and fun. This camp compares very well to any camp in the nation in that respect. Usually there are three to five professional entomologists in camp at all times and often seven or eight. Very few camps provide this level of expertise.

The campers are the focus of the camp. They are always enjoyable and well-behaved. They are really focused on catching insects and adding to their collections. Their questions and enthusiasm really energize the camp staff.

A third set of people that is often overlooked is the parents and other volunteers that come to camp. They add a great deal to the camp by their efforts. Many supervise groups allowing the other staff to concentrate on teaching. Others bring their own particular skills to enhance the educational experiences.

Each camp had approximately 40 campers. We had very few problems this year in any area. Thanks to all of you who made this year's camps some of the best ever.
