What is Bug Camp?
Bug
Camp is a great opportunity to:
- get a great start on an insect collection or add to your current
collection
- learn more about insects from the experts
- meet new, fun people interested in the same things you are
- and have a great time.
Bug Camp is held each year in the summer (usually the third week
in June and the third week in July) and is sponsored by the Mississippi State
University Department of
Entomology
and Plant Pathology, the MSU Extension Service, and the Mississippi Entomological
Association.
Dr. Mike Williams (right) is the moving force behind the Bug Camp. He loves children
and insects and wants to encourage as many as possible to become involved with
them. He is around practically all the time and just loves to answer questions.
Dr. John Guyton (left), our Environmental Education Specialist, makes camp
special every year. Coming up with new, fun things to do is John's stock-in-trade.
If there is something new to do, John probably had a hand in it.
