Mississippi Operation Military Kid (MSOMK) provides support, encouragement, and positive youth development to the military families in our own backyard.
Increased mobilization and deployment of troops to fight in the Global War on Terrorism has affected thousands of children and families in Mississippi. Mississippi State University Extension Service 4-H Department networks with other areas of Mississippi Extension, Mississippi National Guard, Army Reserve, Boys and Girls Club of America, American Legion, and State Department of Education to assist these families with educational programs and educating Mississippi communities on the impact of deployment on families.
Freedom Calls connect military personnel stationed in Iraq to their families back home.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service and the Freedom Calls Foundation are using interactive videoconferencing to connect military personnel stationed in Iraq to their families back home. This videoconferencing technology allows people in different locations to see and talk to each other over a television in real time, just as though they were face-to-face. One family member said, “For her to be able to see us and talk and communicate with each other and see how she’s doing, you couldn’t ask for anything better. For More Information Contact:
